Linda E Maloy Scholarship Awarded to Local Student

Published 9/10/21

Every year, CRG Residential offers a $5,000 scholarship to select schools in current construction sites. The Linda E. Maloy Scholarship was created in 2014 to honor Linda Maloy, the wife of one of our superintendents who has been with us since day 1: J Maloy. Linda lost her 9-year battle with breast cancer in 2012, leaving behind 2 children and her husband J. CRG’s goal for creating this scholarship in her memory is to provide support and hope to a graduating senior who has persevered in the face of hardship and loss, similar to J & Linda’s children.

CRG asks students to write short essays about why they are qualified to receive this scholarship and how these hardships have impacted their future academic goals. This year, there were incredible young students who submitted stories of strength and grace in the face of defeat and one student stood out among the rest. Hailey Brownewell from Hamilton Southeastern High School in Fishers, IN was awarded the Linda E. Maloy Scholarship for her impressive resilience, outstanding recommendation letters, and her future goals of experiencing new cultures and bringing people together. After interviewing Hailey, J Maloy said, “Believe it or not, she reminds me of my daughter. My daughter would have answered those questions exactly the same way” – right down to their same favorite inspirational quote and the way they define success.

Hailey is attending Indiana University this fall to pursue a degree in Sociology with a minor in Spanish.

Thank you to generous donations from partners, CRG Residential was able to award funds to three other students who also embody the legacy of this scholarship.
