Nickel Plate Station brings new retail and residential space to downtown Fishers

FISHERS, Ind. – After breaking ground in April 2020, the new living and dining destination in Fishers, IN is officially open for residents and retailers. Featuring premium housing, outdoor amenities, and commercial space along the new Nickel Plate Trail, this community blends the history of the city with modern living.

“Any time of day you walk out in downtown Fishers, you’re going to find families enjoying the heart of their city and that doesn’t happen without projects like this,” said Mayor Scott Fadness at the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Nickel Plate Station, a joint venture development between Browning and CRG Residential, brings 237 high-end multifamily apartments (including 8 townhomes) and a 337-space public parking garage offering residents a new level of luxury with two private courtyards, first-class gym, a pet spa, and salt-water pool on the third floor. Residents enjoy easy access from garage parking to the units. Street level retail space totals 12,500 square feet, bringing new restaurants, boutiques, and businesses to the area.

“There’s a lot of history with this location and we’re doing what we can to enhance that and to carry that forward,” said David George, Vice President of Development of CRG Residential and former Fishers City Councilman. “The amphitheater, Central Green, Launch Fishers, the trail, and many other activities have helped along with the way as building blocks to have a successful residential project.”

Nickel Plate Station is part of a master development by Browning announced in December 2018 as part of the Fishers 2040 Comprehensive Plan.  Upon completion this development enriches Fishers’ downtown area as a pedestrian-friendly, city core where residents and visitors can live, work, and play.  The mixed-use community complements First Internet Bank’s new headquarters, renovated historic buildings along 116th Street, the recently opened Nickel Plate Trail, and Hotel Nickel Plate, a 5-story, 116-room boutique hotel set to break ground this fall.

“Nickel Plate Station unites the north and south streetscapes of 116th Street while integrating seamlessly into the Nickel Plate Trail to promote walkability and access throughout Downtown Fishers,” said John Hirschman, Browning’s President and CEO. “Browning is thrilled to see another integral component of this transformative redevelopment helping to fulfill the vision for Fishers’ downtown core.”

The community is managed by Barrett & Stokely and rent information can be found at www.nickelplatestation.com.
